So, I bought a house.  It’s old, it’s awesome, and it’s one hell of a project.

The Good

• the neighborhood – less than two blocks from a farmers market, restaurants, bars, shops etc
• original doors and windows – wavy glass and crystal doorknobs
• big backyard
• perfect sized house with an addition that can be remodeled later
• town has grant money available for certain types of renovations

The Bad

• where the hell are the hardwood floors?  mostly not here anymore
• house is completely lacking in insulation
• no central heat or air in the back addition
• kitchen and bathrooms need to be gutted

The Ghetto

• there are at least five different kinds of siding on one exterior wall
• dishwasher is jacked up on a block
• the spotlight over the fireplace contains a red lightbulb
